The Construction Digitalisation Council (Bouw Digitaliserings Raad or BDR) promotes widespread application of BIM in the Dutch construction and infrastructure industry. BIM improves cooperation between the links in the construction chain through a system of integrated building information management, whereby all relevant information is available during the complete life cycle of the building, from design to maintenance. BDR is a unique partnership between various stakeholders in the construction industry. The members represent both their construction industry segment and their own company. They make practical agreements that are in the interests of the entire industry and ensure these are implemented within their own segment. The partnership focuses on implementing BIM to strengthen the quality, continuity and competitive position of the Dutch construction and infrastructure industry. The construction industry could be given a real boost if the implementation of BIM can be accelerated in close cooperation with all industry stakeholders. BIM facilitates quality and efficiency improvements and faster construction at lower costs. BDR is organized in three administrative units: the Council, the Programme Office and the Programme Team.

BDR aims to be the driving force behind the implementation and development of BIM by coordinating, directing, streamlining and linking the various BIM initiatives. BDR further wishes to promote knowledge sharing and the integration of BIM in construction education. BDR’s goals and activities are described in a programme plan hosted on the website which is updated annually. The programme plan published in 2014 and entitled ‘BIM: the driving force behind a stronger construction industry’ describes BDR’s vision of BIM, its goals and the strategy it has set out to achieve these. In 2015, this programme plan was updated with the addendum ‘Communicating and assimilating BIM’, followed in 2016 by ‘Sharing BIM knowledge and BIM Loket’. ‘Assimilating BIM in government policy’ was published in 2017. The Nepal Building Information Modeling Forum (NBIMF) is a non-profit organization officially registered in Nepal in 2020. It is a group of scholars who work collectively to educate the Nepalese Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry about BIM. NBIMF mainly focus on the four areas of BIM as Research, Implementation, Standardization, and Education of BIM. These four areas are initialised as the ‘RISE’ revolution of the Nepalese AEC industry.
The NBIMF Mission is to support the Nepalese AEC industry in adopting BIM in its projects and to help them deliver high-quality construction projects. They actively coordinate with various stakeholders of the Nepalese construction industry and provide them with necessary technical support in BIM implementation. The NBIMF vision is to see BIM being used in infrastructure projects at the Nepalese AEC industry from the preliminary phase of the project to the final phase of construction and operation management.
The group provide support and education to the Nepalese AEC industry to make them aware of the benefits of BIM. They also work with the Nepalese government to implement BIM in various Nepalese infrastructure projects. NBIMF also work together with Nepalese BIM professionals and discuss digital construction solutions that can be adopted by the professionals of Nepalese AEC industry.

BIM Loket aims to challenge everyone in the construction, real estate, infrastructure and spatial environment to work together on digitization, based on an open information playground. Existing capacity problems require an acceleration and renewal of the sector. This is only possible with an impulse in the field of digitization and computerization. Technically, more and more is possible. What is especially needed now is a culture change to adopt those opportunities. The BIM Loket started in 2015 as a partnership on computerization in construction, and grew into a ‘clubhouse’ of, for and by the sector. Meanwhile, the ambition extends further BIM Loket see their role as a network driver of digital, integral collaboration and innovation. Together with the market, they are working towards a sector in which working with BIM and open standards is the norm.

Together with their network, BIM Loket have a wealth of expertise to ensure that the ‘BIM snowball’ grows as quickly as possible, and that as many organizations as possible can benefit from this digital change. The aim of the BIM Loket is to share knowledge, information, news and resources related to BIM in the Netherlands. The India BIM Association, or IBIMA is the leading professional national society for BIM and Digitalization in the Indian Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation (AECO) sector. The India BIM Association is registered as a national level not-for-profit society and was formed in 2016. Their vision is to serve as the voice of IndiaÂ’s BIM community, IBIMA represents, supports and advocates on behalf of the entire Indian BIM community to build a positive business environment for the efficient deployment of BIM, for all engaged in utilizing BIM technologies, processes and protocols in India. The policy of BIM Iceland is to implement the use of harmonised information models in the preparation, design, construction and operation of public structures in Iceland in order to increase the quality and accuracy of information about the structure, and thereby achieve lower construction and operating costs. It’s goal is that it will be standard to use BIM in the construction of all major public structures in Iceland.

The Lechner Knowledge Centre (LKC) is a professional background institution to the Prime MinisterÂ’s Office specialising in architecture, land registry records and GIS. Its mission is the digitalisation and promotion of the wide range of public services it provides relating to the built environment and spatial data. The LKC has held the largest amount of spatial data and had the widest range of GIS expertise in Hungary since 2019. LKC serves as an intermediary between architecture and associated professions and the wider public, making its services available for both professional and residential users.

The Hong Kong Development Bureau has issued Technical Circular (Works) No. 7/2017 that makes building information modelling (BIM) delivery mandatory for all public capital works projects from 1 January 2018 with the aim of “enhancing design, construction, project management, asset management and improving the overall productivity of the construction industry.” Technical Circular (Works) No. 7/2017 identifies 20 specific uses of BIM. From 1 January 2018, eight of these uses became mandated for the design or construction stage, with others expected to be mandated in the future.

This document, ‘A step change for BIM in Hong Kong’ published by engineering consultants Mott MacDonald runs through an explanation of the many BIM uses which are optional and mandatory within Hong Kong. These BIM uses apply and are presented from the perspective of Design and Construction.

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) of Hong Kong was set up with the main function of forging consensus on long-term strategic issues, conveying the industryÂ’s needs and aspirations to Government, as well as providing a communication channel for Government to solicit advice on all construction-related matters. The CIC developed itself as a Centre of Excellence for BIM, formulating strategies for market transformation and promoting cross-discipline collaboration and wider adoption of BIM. The CIC provides support to the industry in five aspects, promotion on BIM adoption, training, standards, guidelines and specifications, BIM personnel certification and BIM courses accreditation, and BIM-related researches using the CIC Research Fund.

The CIC Construction Digitalisation Dashboard is to include the most up-to-date and important information for stakeholders to keep abreast of the progress and status of construction digitalisation in Hong Kong. This is an online dashboard showing lots of statistics and information about the current adoption of BIM in Hong Kong. All of the data shown has been extracted from the CIC “Survey on Adoption of Digitalisation in Construction Projects”. In the survey, a project with adoption of digitalisation is defined as“ a project which had adopted or was planned to adopt at least one of the advanced construction-related digital tools”.
